Hi everyone!
It's time for another WOYWW #503.
It's a sunny but crisp day hear in Durham UK.
I have a busy work desk this week and i'm dabbling with sewing!!!
I bought a small sewing machine and i'm having a go at making a bag!
I wanted a large bag but it's kind of shrunk as I can't cut straight!
Happy WOYWW #503
Thanks for calling
xx Jan
Hi Jan, your sewing sounds like mine! Can’t remember the last time my poor machine saw the light of day.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and hope to see he finished bag later.

I have had similar problems with cutting in the past, mainly with cards. I actually have not done any sewing for a long time, so I wish you luck with that and hope your bag is just what you want. xx Maggie (Silvercrafter) #18
ReplyDeleteAfternoon Jan. Now that sounds like my kind of sewing!! Hope the bag turns out well, even if it s a bit smaller than first anticipated...
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Woohoo, some more fabric on today's desks - and it's rather lovely too. I often use cut out sides of cardboard boxes as bag templates if I can't be bothered measuring - just draw around with a pen and then it's easy to cut out, lol! Anything for a shortcut :-D

I have tried sewing but it just isn't my thing. Good luck with the bag.

I am tempted by a machine but not for clothes or things, but mixed media projects. Just don't have anywhere I could put it to use - don't think the floor would be any good for a sewing machine! Have a good week. Helen #5
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by. Enjoy learning to sew. Anne x 16
ReplyDeleteI tend to make a pattern when it's something I've not cut out before. Any paper will do, old wallpaper is good. It's easier to cut out another pattern than waste your fabric if it goes wrong but I'm sure the bag will turn out just as good even if it is a little smaller than planned. Thanks for the visit to mine and happy woyww (what's left of it), sending hugs, Angela x17x
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea thank you x
DeleteYou'll have so or *Sew* much fun with your sewing machine.. have fun creating.

Mm funny how hard simple things like cutting straight can be, something like measure twice cut once was drilled into me but didn’t always work... hope it turns out better than you think.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW.

DeleteAnything needing to be straight...not happening here! I bet you get the right old sewing bug now, We if you can be strong when it comes to the fabric stash!!
ReplyDeleteDon’t you just love your Gemini? Both of them. I have them too. You said you wanted to make a bag, were you using the new bag dies? I bought them and collected material but haven’t made any yet. Happy Thursday, I’m late.
ReplyDeleteI love the bright red fabric... good luck sewing! Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day, happy ~belated~ woyww. Hug from Holland. Marit #20
ReplyDeleteno worries, Jan. I can't cut straight either. My father in law used to say I couldn't find the center of a pie if it was pre-cut. LOL Consider this your practice bag then you'll have a go at your larger one. Creative Blessings! Kelly #32
